"Step Up To The Plate" is an annual fundraiser event that supports our ODU Baseball program and will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025 in the Priority Automotive Club (inside S.B. Ballard Stadium) at 6pm.

Head Coach Chris Finwood has announced Roland Wright as the 47th recipient of the prestigious Bud Metheny Award. Roland recently finished his 20th season as Head Coach of Western Branch High School baseball team where he led the Bruins to their 4th Virginia State Championship game in 2024. In Coach Wright's 20 seasons, over 50 players have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.

There have also been 6 players drafted by MLB teams during this tenure, and one making it to the Major league level.  Coach Wright is a 1988 graduate of Great Bridge High School, and a 1992 graduate of Bridgewater College. The award will be presented at the event on January 24th.

Food and beverages (open bar) are included in the ticket price. Guests in attendance will have the opportunity to meet and greet the ODU Baseball team and coaching staff.
